The Story of Silent Pool distillery

Silent Pool Distillery in Albury, Surrey is worried about the impact of US tariffs on their business:

From a group of dilapidated farm buildings in Albury, Surrey, we have grown Silent Pool into a sustainable business, employing local people to proudly produce award-winning Silent Pool Gin. Our growth has been extraordinary but it has understandably  taken a back seat while we focused on making and donating over 5,000 bottles of hand sanitiser – which we distributed to hospitals, police stations, charities and schools.

We really cannot underestimate the significant threat of US tariffs on our fast-growing business and the wider gin industry. The US is one of our biggest export markets and we have all seen the negative impact that tariffs have had on the Scotch over the last six months, particularly as we ramp up our export efforts and recover from the pandemic. It would be a cruel blow to the industry to be hit in this way. At Silent Pool, we have a bright future in front of us. We intend to hire more staff, and export to new markets. Dragging small companies like ours into trade wars that have nothing to do with us will not help our growth plans and we urge the government to find a solution as soon as possible.

Please get in touch with us if you would like to support our campaign to reduce the excise duty burden and stop unfair tariffs.
