Our Members
Our spirits industry already spans the length and breadth of the UK. Spirits are among the top 5 food and drink manufacturing sectors in the UK, with 920 spirit producers.
Distilleries across the industry have been bringing together innovative ideas and their skills, coupled with hard work, to create an offering that consumers are looking for, benefiting the public finances, businesses, and inspiring more people to turn their passion for great British produce into a product.
Creating fertile conditions for growth will enable the industry to continue to flourish with new jobs and sustained investment, as well as providing growing, sustainable revenues for HM Treasury.
Spotlight on London: Doghouse Distillery
London is home to 110 spirits businesses, making the sector one of the top food and drink producers in the capital. Among them is Doghouse Distillery – proudly London’s only ‘grain to bottle’ multi-category distillery, crafting spirits with British grain and bottling in British glass.
Doghouse Distillery is a shining example of the innovation and craftsmanship at the heart of the UK spirits industry. Based in Battersea, they represent the entrepreneurial spirit driving growth in communities across the country.
Local MP Marsha de Cordova said: “Hospitality businesses like Doghouse Distillery here in Battersea contribute a huge amount to our national economy and give communities their unique character. Battersea is home to some fantastic hospitality businesses and it’s important we take every opportunity to shine a light on the sector’s role in building a thriving and innovative society.”
From grain to glass, distillers like Doghouse are investing in quality, sustainability and local supply chains – exactly the kind of home-grown success story that a fairer duty system would help to flourish.
Spotlight on the South West: Quayside Distillery
The South West is home to 110 spirits producers, making spirits one of the region’s top five food and drink sectors. Among them is Quayside Distillery in Exeter – one of the first UK distilleries to solely utilise vacuum distillation, and quite possibly the coolest distillery you’ll ever see.
This innovative approach allows them to use delicate ingredients grown just a mile from the distillery, creating a truly local gin that celebrates the best of the South West. It’s exactly the kind of craftsmanship and ingenuity that has made the UK spirits industry a national success story.
Local MP Steve Race said: “I know that the hundreds of local distilleries across the country such as Exeter’s Quayside Distillery, are committed to innovation and to flying the flag for quality British products. With 110 spirits producers across the South West, the spirits sector makes an important contribution to our regional economy, and this impact is felt across our country from its contribution to jobs to its role in local tourism. It also has a global impact – creating products that are famous, and synonymous with the UK, right across the world.”
Spotlight on Wales: Penderyn Distillery
Wales is home to 35 spirits producers and continues to invest in beverage innovation. Leading the way is Penderyn Distillery – the first whisky to be manufactured in Wales for a century, and now exporting to over 50 countries worldwide.
Penderyn’s newest distillery has regenerated the iconic Morfa Copperworks in the heart of Swansea, expanding production while breathing new life into one of the city’s most historic sites. It’s a powerful example of how the spirits industry drives not just economic growth, but cultural regeneration and tourism across the UK’s nations and regions.
Local MP Torsten Bell said: “Swansea Copperworks is a brilliant example of economic and cultural innovation in the heart of our city, fusing present-day production of award-winning gin with the opportunity to learn more about Swansea’s mighty industrial past. Penderyn Distillery’s decision to locate their third Welsh distillery in Swansea is a great vote of confidence, supporting local jobs as well as tourism in the years ahead.”
