UK Spirits Alliance responds to Deposit Return Scheme in Wales
A statement for the UK Spirits Alliance:
“Businesses of all sizes have been clear from day one that a successful Deposit Return Scheme must be interoperable between the nations of the United Kingdom.
“The decision taken to allow the Welsh Government to include glass will lead to a significant trade barrier, deterring investment and undermining the UK’s competitiveness.
“Businesses across our sector are desperate for certainty; the UK Internal Markets Act was put in place to ensure frictionless trade across the Union. This is another sad day for our sector, and the Government’s push for growth has taken another hit.”
